A RESOLUTION in honor of and in respect for Mike Casey.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Mike Casey.

WHEREAS, Mike Casey was born on May 26, 1948, a native son of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and being a resident of Shelbyville, Shelby County, Kentucky, he passed from this life on April 9, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Mike Casey was a lifelong member of the Democratic Party and a supporter of its ideals and candidates; and

WHEREAS, Mike Casey tirelessly  served on the Shelby County Democratic Party’s Executive Committee for many years; and

WHEREAS, Mike Casey was a proud member of the Shelby County Rocket State Championship Basketball team is 1966; and

WHEREAS, Mike Casey was a member of one of the most celebrated class of recruits in the history of the University of Kentucky Basketball under the legendary coach, Adolph Rupp; and

WHEREAS, Mike Casey was a volunteer for innumerable community charities and causes in Shelby County; and

WHEREAS, Mike Casey was a proud and distinguished representative of Shelby County and the Commonwealth of Kentucky and a faithful, loyal and caring friend to many; and

WHEREAS, Mike Casey was the loving brother of Masha Casey Miller; and

WHEREAS, Mike Casey was the continued friend of Joy Casey, his former wife, and

WHEREAS, Mike Casey was the beloved and proud father of Laura Casey Lake;

NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Kentucky Democratic Party and the Executive Committee of the Shelby County Democratic Party that they bestow their heartfelt gratitude, appreciation and thanks to Mike Casey for his service and dedication to the Democratic Party, its ideals and principles for the betterment of the life of the people of Shelby County and the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

It is directed that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Laura Casey Lake, Joy Casey, Masha Casey Miller, this April 22, 2009.
