Here's the text of the comments that Bill Young, democratic candidate for Kentucky's house District 58, presented prior to the news conference held on Wednesday, August 28:
I have called this news conference today because I believe this election for representative may be one of the most critical the voters have faced in some time.
Day after day we are reminded of just how difficult life in this nation and in this Commonwealth has become.

More of the Same: GOP Lies, Distortions, and Hate |
Saturday, 06 September 2008 11:57 |
Prior to John McCain's sleep-inducing Thursday night address to the Republican convention, the GOP paraded speaker after speaker to the podium to attack Democrats in general, and Barack Obama in particular, giving McCain's calls for national unity a particularly hollow ring.
The shrill and sarcastic tone of Palin, Guiliani, Thompson, et al was overshadowed only by their brazen and calculated use of Rovian lies, distortions, and character attacks.

Barack Obama at Mile High -- "The American Promise" |
Friday, 29 August 2008 11:08 |
"America, we cannot turn back. Not with so much work to be done. Not with so many children to educate, and so many veterans to care for. Not with an economy to fix and cities to rebuild and farms to save. Not with so many families to protect and so many lives to mend...At this moment, in this election, we must pledge once more to march into the future. Let us keep that promise – that American promise – and in the words of Scripture hold firmly, without wavering, to the hope that we confess." -- Barack Obama, August 28, 2008.
If you missed Barack Obama's acceptance speech, you missed one of the most memorable speeches in American politcal history. See a video of the speech and read the text here. |
